SUMMARY:CCNP Seminar: Elsa Fouragnan\, PhD (University of Plymouth)
DESCRIPTION:“Ultrasound-Driven Plasticity of Decision Making and Learning: Toward Clinical Translation”\nZoom link: https://princeton.zoom.us/j/6397147065 \nDate and Time: Wednesday\, October 21st\, 10-11 am EDT (Eastern) \nSpeaker: Elsa Fouragnan\nProfessor of Neuroscience\, Director\, Center for Therapeutic Ultrasound (CENTUS)\, University of Plymouth \nThis talk will present recent evidence demonstrating that low intensity Transcranial focused Ultrasound Stimulation (TUS) can induce transient\, targeted neuroplastic changes in the human brain\, with implications for both mechanistic research and therapeutic development. I will highlight TUS’s precision in targeting deep brain structures\, its value in probing neural circuits\, and its emerging clinical potential in psychiatric disorders. Drawing on recent human studies; including investigations into decision-making and their potential clinical translation; I will present evidence of TUS’s effects on task-related neural changes and behaviour demonstrating its promise as a transformative neuromodulation tool.
